Empress Gifty Dedicates Awards to Mahama, Urges Investment in Creative Arts Infrastructure

Gospel musician Empress Gifty has dedicated her seven recent awards to former President John Dramani Mahama, while appealing for the construction of a large-capacity auditorium to support Ghana’s creative arts sector.

During a courtesy visit to the Jubilee House on October 9, 2025, Empress Gifty—accompanied by her husband Hopeson Adorye and her management team—expressed gratitude to Mahama for his mentorship, describing him as a father figure. She credited his guidance for her success and shared plans to release a new song soon.

She called for a 10,000 to 30,000-seater venue to host major events, arguing that such a facility would boost the industry’s growth and attract international shows. She also urged the government to allocate more funding to the creative sector in the national budget.

President Mahama thanked her for the visit and praised her dedication. He reaffirmed his support for the industry, revealing that designs for a national convention centre are under review and will be implemented once funding is secured.
